‘Sessions ferotges’ is an album that captures the meeting of Valencian singer-songwriter Feliu Ventura and the Catalan lo-fi reggae band Xerramequ i els Aborígens. This is a meeting that both artists had been looking for over the years. Thanks to the catalyst songs of Ovidi Montllor and coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Ovidi’s passing, on 2017 March 10th a 10” vinyl with 4 songs was released as a first round of the clash. The record has been conceived and crafted in a rush, with an open heart mood, during a wild month and fierce sessions in Xàtiva, Manresa, Vic, Centelles, Reus… The soft rage of Feliu Ventura and the raw heartbeat of Xerramequ i els Aborígens have been mixed with the joys of the analogue style, real time, by Victor Rice at Copan Studios in São Paulo and masterized by Ibon Larruzea at Euridia Studios, Euskal Herria. The fierce sessions of Feliu Ventura amb Xerramequ i els Aborígens are disobedient attitude: singer-songwriter songs inna Jamaican stylee –reggae, rocksteady- but also “marxes mores”, pop sounds and the extra ball of the dubs. These fierce sessions include a review of “El Darrer Somriure”, an old song and hommage to Guillem Agulló, a young boy from Burjassot (País Valencià) murdered by fascists 25 years ago, on the 11th of April of 1993.
